SADDAM’S
LAW
We have big confusion as refugees in Lebanon about the new conditions the UNHCR set for giving us help, because they don’t make it clear exactly what laws we need to respect to make sure we will have their help. They are just adding the following sentence on the results paper or what they call refugee
card:
*We expect that the refugee will respect the law.*
The problem is that we don’t know which law it is that we must respect, because the UNHCR doesn’t belong to any government in the
world, that mean; we need to respect the law in our original countries (First country) or the law where we live now (Second countries) or the law in third
countries, or international law, it’s very confusing!!!
Does that all mean that refugees must go back to their own countries???
Or does it mean (just for example) that we are the Iraqi refugees must
respect the law in Iraq? And we must go back to Iraq. Does that mean I must go back to my country and to re-join the army and to start to kill innocent
people??? I refused to have any part of the military. Also never in my life did I vote in presidential elections in Iraq. I broke the law of Emigration because I left Iraq without the permission of my government.
Now I live in Lebanon, but I am here against the law because I’m an illegal
resident, and to respect the law I must leave Lebanon, but where I will
go???
Does the UNHCR think that we were part of the system who made the law in these countries???
Does the UNHCR thinks that there is democracy so we are responsible for the law in these countries??? WE would love to find the answer.
Is that the reason we don’t have any help from UNHCR or any other
organizations???
Why are we the refugees who live in Lebanon, treated as if we are not part of the rest of the world, with proper human rights and laws, which apply to us???
It’s hard for me to imagine that there is even one refugee in the world who
hasn’t broken at least one law in his life or why would he need to be a
refugee?! Actually the meaning of being a refugee is: ‘A person who has real
or well-founded fear of being prosecuted in his country for many reasons’.
That means he has real problems with his own government or with the
government where he lives now.
One logical question: If the refugee has no problems with the law and he has the protection of the law and help from the community, why would he need the protection or the help of the
UNHCR????
My friends, we are the refugees asking what kind of law is it that we need to respect, so we will have help from UNHCR and the community where we live now, we ask to have a list given to all refugee’s containing all the laws that they want us to respect! This will make us more secure and understand our rights better.
I can’t think that they meant the military law in Iraq or the immigration
law in Lebanon, because it’s not possible for us as refugees to respect these
laws, this could lead us to our graves, if it were like this! So is that what the UNHCR exist for, helping people like Saddam Hussian or
like the government of Lebanon by getting illegal immigrants to confess their guilt (Refugees) and to accept deportation!!! It’s crazy to think this, don’t you agree with us?
My friends you received this message because you are members of the
community of the human beings who created the UNHCR and are helping it to do it’s job, so according to this fact we expect that you will help the
refugees in Lebanon by finding the answers for all these questions, at least
to help us to know about the law that they want us to respect, it’s hard for
us to ask the UNHCR, but we hope that you can ask on our behalf (we just hope) by contact these
E-mails.
Thanks for your time
