HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION
Hello,
My name is Osam Altaee and I call my self the truth warrior, because
that is what I am trying to do, to bring the truth to the world.
I
am an Iraqi refugee and live in Lebanon, and I want to tell you all what
is happening here. I am an activist for Human rights, Justice, Peace and
Democracy.
I
am concerned about 3 subjects: Iraq. Refugees. Terrorism. My targets
are: JUSTICE, PEACE, FREEDOM, and DEMOCRACY for ALL. Justice brings
Peace. Democracy brings Freedom. Understanding is the way.
Because of the things I have experienced and the things I have seen, I
have become an activist for human rights (Specially for refugees) on the
net. This has lead to problems with the UNHCR and the government of
Lebanon because I use the net to speak of the things that are going on here.
At
that moment I am trying to find some legal representative who would be
able defend me against the UNHCR and Lebanese authorities. The
authorities want me, but I don't know what the charges are against me at
this time.
The authorities in Lebanon arrested me in front of the UNHCR office in
Beirut after a request from UNHCR in Lebanon, I was taken to a security
office (Embassies security division) they investigated me for some hours
and then released me on the agreement that I stop contacting people
inside Lebanon, who I felt should be helping us. I didn't do this and
continued as before, trying to get people to listen to me, the police
came to my place of work, which was also my
home, to arrest me again.
This
time I wasn't there, and I found then I had to leave my place to hide
myself somewhere I could not be found. I had to do this to avoid be
arrested again and then to deported to my own country (Iraq). This is
the second time I have been arrested, the first time was in 1996 and I
was jailed for 2 months with no support from the UNHCR (I was an asylum
seeker) even though they knew about me. The charges at that time were
for illegal entrance into Lebanon, and staying without the permission of
the Lebanese government.
I hope you can find a way to help me in my mission of helping thousands
of refugees in Lebanon and more around the world, and look forward to
hearing from you.

The Ad-hoc Committee for the Support of Non-Palestinian
Refugees/Asylum Seekers in Lebanon (ACSRA), Beirut
Project: Strengthening refugee legal aid program (general support)
Project goals: To defend and empower those refugees and asylum
seekers in Lebanon who are subject to many violations, specially lack
of security, safety and stability including arrests, torture in
detention, and involuntary deportation to their countries of origin
where they may face persecution. ACSRA also aims to improve the
relationship between the Beirut office of the UNHCR and the refugee
population.
Strategy and activities: Advising the refugees/asylum seekers;
Monitoring and dissemination of information about arrests, detention,
and deportations and other cases of abuse; Communicating and
discussing their cases/complaints with the UNHCR office or its
partners; Visiting the refugee/asylum seekers in the detention center
of the General Security; Preparing and distributing legal studies for
internal use and/or for publications; Networking and Lobbying local
and international Human Rights organisations and other influential
groups or personalities; Empowering and building the capacity of the
